IS THERE INTERNET CENSORSHIP IN TURKEY?

Not like in China, but some websites work halfway, or offer you a limited service, such as Wikipedia, which is blocked, and Booking, which works halfway. On this website you will not be able to search for accommodation in Turkey, but you will be able to see what you have already done from home.

IN WHICH AREAS OF TURKEY SHOULD I NOT BOOK ACCOMMODATION?

In Istanbul, avoid Taksim Square, especially if you have heard that there may be riots. So are Tarlabasi, Merter, Jasim Pasha and Balat, which is also called the Kurdish quarter.

In the eastern part of Turkey, cities like Sirnak, Hakkari and Kilis, you won’t be able to find anything worthwhile to face a possible dangerous event. Keep in mind that Turkey borders Syria and Iraq on that side.

¿IS IT SAFE FOR ME TO TRAVEL ALONE TO TURKEY IF I’M A WOMAN?

In the capital, for example, almost 100% of the population is Muslim, so their belief practices are often very rigid, and some may be uncomfortable for women.

It is in this context that there are some people, mostly men, who may engage in relationships with women tourists to make them feel comfortable and accompanied, but in the end they may seek some economic favor, steal from you, rob you or even abuse you physically and sexually.

To do this it is better that when you arrive in Turkey, try not to walk alone in the streets or resorts, look for group tours, do not dress in a way that can attract much attention or make you very noticeable.

Don’t be intimidated and respond in a friendly but polite manner if someone wants to know more about you, if you have come alone or recognize the language.
